Formatting Style

This page helps you configure a number of settings that control how ReSharper generates new XML code and how it reformats existing code. You can adjust the values and check the preview pane at the bottom of the page to see how your preferences affect the code.

Formatting preferences listed on the page can be also configured via EditorConfig. To find the EditorConfig properties that correspond to each preference, refer to EditorConfig properties for XML: Formatting Style.

Your XML code formatting preferences are also used to reformat XML-like languages: ASP.NET, XAML, and MSBuild.

ReSharper's settings are saved in settings layers, which allow you to have different settings for different solutions and to share your settings with your team.

The options that you configure on this page apply in the following cases:

• When code is automatically formatted on editing or after pasting (you can toggle auto-formatting on the Environment | Editor | Behavior page of ReSharper options Alt+R, O.

• When ReSharper produces new code with code completion and code generation features, applies code templates and performs refactorings.

• When you reformat existing code.
