Breadcrumbs
Usage
When to Use
Use breadcrumbs to display the hierarchy and navigational structure of the user’s location within your page. Breadcrumbs are usually used for complex pages that are structured into several sections and subsections.
When Not to Use
Don’t use breadcrumbs if your page is only one or two levels deep. The structure will be understandable on its own.
Content
The first item of your breadcrumbs should be the root node of the hierarchy.
The last item of your breadcrumbs should represent the current page. While all other items of the path are displayed as links, the last item is not clickable. Therefore, it is displayed in black instead of blue.
Layout
Place breadcrumbs just below the header bar and above the content of the current page. Use at least 24 pixels of spacing above and at least 16 pixels of spacing below the breadcrumbs.
