RubyMine 2021.2 Help

Microsoft SQL Server

For more information about configuring Microsoft SQL Server, Windows domain authentication, and user permissions, see How to connect to MS SQL server in the RubyMine documentation.

For more information about connecting to LocalDB, see How to connect to SQL Server Express LocalDB in the DataGrip documentation.

  1. In the Database tool window (View | Tool Windows | Database), click the Data Source Properties icon The Data Source Properties icon.

  2. On the Data Sources tab in the Data Sources and Drivers dialog, click the Add icon (The Add icon) and select Microsoft SQL Server.

  3. At the bottom of the data source settings area, click the Download missing driver files link. As you click this link, RubyMine downloads drivers that are required to interact with a database. The IDE does not include bundled drivers in order to have a smaller size of the installation package and to keep driver versions up-to-date for each IDE version.

You can specify your drivers for the data source if you do not want to download the provided drivers. For more information about creating a database connection with your driver, see Add a user driver to an existing connection.

  4. (Optional) To use Azure Active Directory Authentication, you can select Azure Active Directory password or Azure Active Directory interactive options from the Authentication list.

If you select the Azure Active Directory password option, you need to specify your username and password for the Azure Active Directory in User and Password fields, respectively.

To authorize your connection from the browser, select Azure Active Directory interactive. In this case, you will be redirected to login.microsoftonline.com, where you need to authorize with your Active Directory (AD) account. Then the browser will send the authentication information to the IDE.

You might need to download additional libraries for Azure Active Directory Authentication. To use SQL authentication, select User & Password.

  5. To ensure that the connection to the data source is successful, click the Test Connection link.
