Examples of build configurations are integration builds, release builds, nightly builds, etc. A build configuration is characterized with its Build Configuration State. In particular, it can be paused or active. If a build configuration is paused, its Build Trigger are disabled until the configuration is activated.
You can explore details of a build configuration in its Build Configuration Home Page, and change its settings in the Create Edit Build Configuration.
A build configuration can be paused or activated in several places of the TeamCity UI:
The 4.Build Triggering section of the Administration page.
The Actions link on the Build Configuration Home Page toolbar
The Current status field of the Overview of the Build Configuration Home Page
