Code your way. Ship with confidence.
Prompt an agent or write it yourself – JetBrains IDEs make sure your code holds up either way.

Configure how you work
Choose how each agent launches, in the GUI or the terminal, and what the IDE keeps front and center – your code or the agent session.

Move in parallel without losing context
Work with multiple agents at once, in one project or across several, without re-explaining state or codebase context.

Keep track of every session
See which sessions are currently running, done, or waiting on you. Comment on a line in the diff and send it back for the agent to act on.

Review and verify your code works
Debugging, testing, profiling, and databases are all one click away, so you can confirm that nothing breaks before you merge the change.
AI agents perform better with JetBrains Rider's refactoring engine (read the study):
83%
faster
64%
lower cost
63%
fewer tool calls
The IDE’s code intelligence resolves every usage, dependency, and type across the codebase. That way, your agents use fewer tokens and make fewer wrong turns.
Connect the agents you use and run them on your own API key, the subscription you already pay for, or JetBrains AI. Switch subscriptions anytime, even during a session.

“I have been switching between Codex Desktop app and IntelliJ IDEA. With Air plugin, IntelliJ IDEA provides a good Agentic IDE experience. Less tool switching, less headaches.”

Deepak Gupta
Founder, Cybersecurity Architect, and Writer
“The JetBrains family remains the most capable option when you need an IDE that actually understands your language's semantics: Safe rename across a codebase, structural search and replace, and framework-aware completion are all deeper here than anywhere else.”

Greg Finzer

“I am really liking JetBrains Rider. The refactoring tools are great plus the built in database editor is so nice.”

Roman Zayac
QA Engineer at Veltrix AI
“JetBrains tools are top-notch – reliable, smart, and built for productivity. IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm have completely changed how I code. Excellent UX and constant innovation from the team.”

Peter
Developer at Dadroit
“Our primary IDE for all Dadroit products. The deep code intelligence, built-in tooling, and refactoring capabilities make a real difference when working on performance-critical applications like V Web.”

Jenni
Co-Founder of AIVory
“Our IDE of choice for many years and many products with awesome people behind it.”

Agents work task by task. An IDE helps you see how a change fits with the rest of the codebase, check what it affects, run and debug it, and refactor it safely before shipping code to production.
Yes. Editing, navigation, refactoring, testing, and debugging remain an essential part of JetBrains IDE workflows. Use an agent when it helps, write the code yourself, or switch between the two approaches in the same IDE. Learn more about our vision.
Start with the language or framework that drives most of the project. The selector shows all of the JetBrains IDEs that support a selected language, so you can then compare their support for the other technologies you use.
Yes. You can use agents included with JetBrains AI, connect ACP-compatible agents, bring your own provider and API key, or configure a local model. Available options may vary by IDE and version.
It gives the agent deterministic tools for intelligent search, deep analysis, and structure-aware changes. This helps it find relevant code and make project-wide changes using the IDE's code model, not just grepping, consuming fewer tokens.
If AI features are not installed or enabled, they do not have access to your code. With cloud-based AI, the prompt and project context needed to process it go to the selected model provider. With a local model, requests are handled by your local runtime. JetBrains doesn't persist customer data unless you opt in to detailed data collection, which is off by default.
Yes. IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm include free core functionality that you can use for both commercial and non-commercial projects. CLion, DataGrip, Rider, ReSharper, RubyMine, RustRover, and WebStorm are free for non-commercial use. All IDEs also come with a free, 30-day trial.
Air is JetBrains' system for building software with agents – in your IDE, in the browser, or from the CLI. It works with the agents you already use, including Claude, Codex, and Gemini, plus any ACP-compatible agent, and adds shared team workflows and governance for organizations scaling AI adoption.
