JetBrains is a well-known international software development company. Ever since we started, back in 2000, we have strived to make the strongest, most effective developer tools on earth. Our products are used by more than 11 million users worldwide, and 90 Fortune Global 100 companies are our customers. As JetBrains continues to expand its business activities, we are seeking proactive legal counsel to support our internal clients.
We are looking for a legal professional to join our Prague-based Legal team, which currently consists of 11 lawyers and one Legal Support Specialist. The team provides comprehensive legal assistance in all matters related to the global sale of our software products, our marketing initiatives, the organization’s partnerships with other technology companies, and the development of new products.
This is a hybrid position. Most team members work partly from home, but we also meet regularly in the office. It is also possible for this to be a part-time role (70–80%).
In this role you will:
- Support and negotiate commercial deals, commonly in relation to international customers or IT and marketing service providers.
- Assist with legal matters related to our channel partners and indirect sales.
- Draft and revise the terms of use for various products and services, as we are a product company with numerous complex EULAs to support.
- Help resolve various marketing and partnership issues, as we often partner with the largest companies in our industry.
- Work on complex projects, including planning, coordinating efforts, tracking progress, and delivering final results to stakeholders.
- Conduct legal research on various topics related to international commerce.
- Assist in the implementation of training programs as needed to achieve compliance with applicable regulations.
- Communicate with customers, suppliers, and partners.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing within the JetBrains Legal team and JetBrains as a whole.
We will be happy to have you on our team if you have:
- A relevant law degree (LLB, LLM, Mgr., or similar).
- The skills, familiarity, and efficiencies that come with 5+ years of post-university legal experience, ideally in a multinational corporation or a reputable international law firm.
- The ability to review, draft, negotiate, and solidify agreements and other legal documents in English to optimize the company’s legal position.
- Proficiency in another widely spoken language.
- Previous experience with at least one of the following areas: software licensing, risk management, or project management skills.
We’d be especially thrilled if you:
- Possess quick reflexes when dealing with foreign laws and novel concepts.
- Have the ability to provide clear and concise legal advice that is understandable to internal clients without any legal background.
- Can demonstrate a flair for creative and lateral problem-solving, supported by precise research.
- Have a sharp wit and even sharper critical thinking and analytical abilities.
- Are diligent and self-reliant with excellent time-management skills.
- Are transparent and display integrity and an openness with your teammates and the business as a whole.
