Database integration
Datalore provides a UI that allows you to create database connections, attach them to notebooks, and retrieve their data for your code.
Basic information
Use the information below to get a general idea of how database connections are used in Datalore and navigate to more detailed instructions using the provided links.
- Database connections on workspace level
Whether you add a database connection directly to a workspace or create it from a notebook, it is added to workspace resources. This means that all database connections stored in a workspace can be attached to any notebook residing in that workspace. The information about how to create and manage database connections on workspace level can be found in Database connections as workspace resources.
- Database connections on notebook level
You can attach to a notebook any database connection from the resources of the respective workspace.
Your other alternative is to create a database connection directly in a notebook. This will automatically attach the database connection to the notebook and add it to the resources of the respective workspace. As part of the workspace, this newly created database connection is available for attachment to any other notebook residing in that workspace.
The information about how to create and manage database connections on notebook level can be found in Database connections on notebook level.
- SQL cells
Use SQL cells to query attached databases and retrieve data as tabular data objects. Find more details in SQL cells.
- Export to database cell
Use Export to database cells to append dataframes to attached database tables. This will help you keep your tables updated with fresh data. Find more details in Export to database.
- Demo database
If you are new to the feature, you can attach our demo database to check how databases and SQL cells work in Datalore. Find more details Use the demo database
- Custom JDBC drivers for database connections (Enterprise version only)
As an admin of Datalore Enterprise, you can use database driver files to expand the range of available database connection types.
