Single sourcing and content reuse
Working on large documentation sets often leads to a lot of redundancy, discrepancies, and time loss. Writerside has built-in features for single sourcing and content reuse that reduce this redundancy, save time, and ensure consistency.
With Writerside, you can repurpose any piece of content across different documentation outputs or reuse it multiple times within the same document. A key advantage of this approach is mitigating the risk of diverging interpretations or explanations of the same concept across various documents, which is especially important when you have multiple authors working on your documentation. This also streamlines changes as you only need to update the reusable piece of content in one place.
Writerside provides the following ways to reuse content:
Write a topic once and insert it into different instances.
For more information, see Reuse topics and sections.
Specify an ID for any markup element and insert it anywhere.
For more information, see Reuse pieces of content.
Add filters to customize content for different outputs.
For more information, see Conditional content.
Use variables for names, versions, and other repeatable information.
For more information, see Variables.

If you often mention the same UI controls, write similar procedure steps, and warn users about specific actions, you can consider moving some repeatable pieces into variables and snippets.
Highlight the name of the UI control or action and press Ctrl+Shift+F, or right-click the selection and click Find in Files.
