Datalore is licensed based on the number of active editor users, regardless of the plan used. One license grants one seat, which is a slot used to register one editor user.
note
Important
In most cases, when deploying the Datalore On-Premises, you should also consider infrastructure-related costs (such as cloud provider bills) in addition to licensing costs.
Example: Data team consists of 10 data scientists, who are sharing their results with 50 other team members, using the interactive reports feature. In this case, only 10 Datalore seats (and therefore 10 licenses) are required for the reasons below.
On-Premises version
The remaining team members can view the shared report as anonymous users (not logged into Datalore) or as viewer type users. This user type is free of charge and included into any Datalore On-Premises license. See User types and roles for more details.
Cloud version
The remaining team members can just use a link to the report when published with public access. This would not require such viewers even to be registered Datalore users.
