Work with Sprints

Last modified: 09 October 2024

In Scrum development, a sprint is a set period of time during which a predetermined set of tasks must be completed and made ready for review.

On an agile board in YouTrack, a sprint is simply a set of active tasks represented as cards. Each card represents an issue to be resolved before the end of the sprint. You can create and schedule sprints to follow a Scrum development methodology or use unscheduled sprints to follow your own agile practice.

Agile boards in YouTrack support a range of agile methodologies, not just Scrum. Some of these, like Kanban, don't use sprints at all. In order to work with sprints on your agile board, you need to enable this option in the board settings. To access this setting, click the Board settings icon in the toolbar for your agile board, then select the General tab.
